Federation Light Dreadnought

The four"splendid cats" of this class were heavy raiders built before the General War. They had 80% of the firepower (and 80% of the hull mass) of a true dreadnought with the same engine power, resulting in the fastest warships in the galaxy until X-ships appeared a decade later.

Star Cougar was destroyed on a raid that saved the Federation during the dark first week of the Klingon Invasion. Replaced on that front by Star Lion that fought on every front and survived the war. Star Leopard made secret and illegal raids on the Klingons from Kzinti space before the Federation entered the war. Star Tiger was damaged in a raid on the Klingons and converted into a carrier. The fifth "splendid cat" Star Lynx was scheduled for construction several times in budget plans (in several forms) but was never actually built.

The ships of the Starline 2500 series are cast in pewter, have supremely high detail, and are in a larger (1/3200) scale than the earlier, metal 2400 series of miniatures. The ships of either series will work with Star Fleet Battles,Federation Commander, A Call to Arms, or Starmada.
